Technology planning and policies addresses the assessment of documented strategies that direct the acquisition, use, maintenance, and expansion of technology in the educational enterprise. These strategies are expressed in policies or schooling technology plan.

Technology planning and policies should address the three fundamental areas consisting of vision, access and integration. Vision is about what is expected from the technology mainly, access is related to acquisition and availability of technology to target audiences.  Moreover, integration of the technologies is the development and implementation of strategies which make the technology useful.

Policies are guidelines for the activity; it is written and officially decided or accepted by the organization. Also, technology plans represent end points for which technology policies are a beginning and a road map.
According to Regional Technology Education Consortia’s Technology Plan Task Force; there is no certain definition about technology planning. “A technology plan plays the role as the bridge between traditional standards and classroom practice. It also organizes, and integrates the content and processes of education in a particular discipline with convenient technologies. It facilitates multiple levels of policy and curriculum decision-making, especially in school districts, schools, and educational organizations that allow for supportive resource allocations."
Furthermore, technology planning can increase the potential of technological innovations and it can help to overcome the challenges of implementation.

Requirements of Technology Planning
Technology plans should take into account long-range funding issues; focus on administrative and instructional enhancements and purposes; identify an implementation states; coordinate all aspects of technology integration, including professional development or staff training; and evaluate outcomes

Otherwise, unexpected problems could occur inevitably.

Maybe, the most important aspects of technology planning are evaluating its result an effect on students and instructors. Evaluations can be negative or positive according to performance of students and instructors. According to performance results, it can be decided that whether used technology tools and its planning fulfill the original objectives and expected outcomes. If not, plan of technology should be evaluated with indicating its strength and weaknesses in order to rethink about its requirements carefully to meet all objectives for students’ success.
